The Pirate Bay may be launching a new music sharing service that it promises will scare the living daylights out of the music industry

The music industry is in for a big shock as The Pirate Bay plans to open a new website: The Music Bay.

The Pirate Bay appears to be planning a new music based file sharing service, after recently posting a "comming soon" [sic] message on the domain fear.themusicbay.org.

"if they [the music industry] ever had a reason to be scared it is now", a Pirate Bay insider told TorrentFreak.

No other details were forthcoming, but the new service is planned for launch around the same time as the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry's (IFPI) 78th birthday, in April. "It will be a special surprise for IFPI’s 78th birthday, and we’re thinking of organizing a huge festival in Rome where IFPI was founded, " added the TPB insider.

The IFPI was created by the fascist Mussolini government in 1933, and is now one of the leading members of the fight against online piracy.

Do you think this is just a ploy to scare the living daylights out of the music industry, or is TPB actually launching a new music sharing service? Post your opinion in our comments section below or in our forum:
