Sony and DivX have come together to allow consumers to download movies in DivX format so that they may be able to play them on DivX certified devices.
Certified DivX players are very common around the world, especially in US and Japan. Right now Sony has five different models that are DivX certified and they say more are to come soon.
DivX does come with some type of DRM but, it differs from most. It protects copyright holders, while not interfering with a viewer's ability to watch the movie. The unique feature about this DRM is the movie or content is tied to the user, rather than to the device.
Another added bonus is you will be able to download not only to your computer, but also to other devices.
