Movie studios are trying to make this holiday season a Blu Christmas but increasing revenue significantly from sales of Blu-ray discs

Even though Sony's Blu-ray format won the next generation DVD format war nearly two years ago, the adoption of Blu-ray hardware has been very poor.

The Blu-ray format, which is now four years old, will produce just $1.3 billion in revenue to studios this year.  Thats about %14 of regular DVD sales alone.

Regular DVD format is still the "cash cow" at the moment, but if Sony's Blu-ray keeps this rate of revenue up, they'll be tied by 2014.
