Since Blu-ray is stuck at 1920 x 1080- pixels and most consumers are perfectly happy with 720 x 480 pixels offered by DVD, there is virtually no market for a 2160p display, translating into a 3840 x 2160 pixel resolution.

With graphics cards getting much more powerful, and consumers focusing more on high image quality these TVs could be the next thing.  Sapphire will be the second company that is actually selling TV with this technology although as of right now there isn't much need for something of this magnitude.

At a retail price of just under $60,000, I think I'll hold off on getting one.
