Analyst are predicting DVD to be the choice of consumers for the next 5-10 years but Netflix is already looking past that where video streaming is the next thing. Studios will probably continue to release on DVD & Blu-ray for another 15 years.

My prediction is there will be no more optical media after that. Currently Netflix offers a online streaming service free to current subscribers. Not only is it more convenient for the customer to watch what they want when they want, Netflix saves as well as there would be no need for postage.
