Wal-Mart Offers Online Downloading

This new service was beta tested initially with the Superman Returns DVD, where customers who bought the DVD also got a bundle that contained a downloadable version. These downloadable version were compatible with PCs, laptops and portable media players.

Movie downloads ranged from $13 to $20, while TV episodes were going for $2 per episode.

Here is a quote from the Merchandise Manager at Wal-Mart about the new service.

“We anticipate further expanding this service to offer a comprehensive online home video shopping experience that meets our customers' growing needs and allows them to shop a deep selection of movie/TV content in a variety of formats, including video downloads."
