Skyfire browser "WAS" coming for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and it can transcode flash to HTML5 video

Skyfire browser is now available for the iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch and it brings with it the ability to transcode flash to HTML5 video.

The new browser can do this by using software on Skyfire’s remote servers to convert Flash video to an iOS-friendly HTML5 and then streams to the device from Skyfire's servers.

Unfortunately, not all Flash content will play like games but, something is better than nothing I guess.  The app will cost $2.99 when it debuts Thursday.

Update: Well, that didn't last long.  After only hours on the iTunes App Store, the Skyfire app  vanished into thin air.  Believe it or not though, Apple wasn't responsible for the app disappearing.  Skyfire posted that it removed the app itself due to "server issues".  Skyfire did say it will be adding servers as quickly as it can, but a date when the app might be available again is unknown.  Keep a lookout for Facebook and Twitter status updates to be the first to know when its back.
