Nearly 25 years after they opened its doors, Blockbuster has thrown in the towel and filed for bankruptcy protection and is closing its 3,000 remaining stores.

Blockbuster has its own internet based streaming service, but it just hasn't caught on like Netflix and other digital content providers.

On a positive note, they filed their 1 billion dollar debt down to just 100 million.
