With the recent release of an over hauled version of Steam and a hacker from the Steam forums comes conformation that Steam can run on OS X.

Valve added some resources and API changes that point to possible OS X support, like an OS X dock icon as well window control buttons.

Keep in mind though that the majority of games available on Steam are developed with Microsoft’s proprietary DirectX graphics libraries and remain Windows-only.
