Sony has discovered a way to make the PS3 up to 70% cheaper than it did when it first launched.  Sony wouldn't give an exact dollar amount for the difference but, seeing how it was around $800 to make then, it would come out to be around $240 now.

Whatever the price difference is, the bottom line is they are now making money on each PS3 sold.  It has been speculated that this savings would result in a price cut on the PS3 but, the only thing we know for sure is a rumor of a "slimmed-down" version coming later this year.
