The DTV switchover has already happened but that doesn't mean you can't get a $40 coupon anymore for a converter box

Even though the DTV switchover has already taken place, consumers can still apply to get their $40 government coupon toward the purchase of a converter box. But you'll only have until July 31, 2009 to claim your coupon.

If you rely on over-the-air television in your household, then applying for one of these coupons will greatly reduce your out-of-pocket expense for a converter box.

To apply for a coupon, households must call 1-888-DTV-2009 or visit www.DTV2009.gov before the program ends. The coupons are valid for 90 days after they are issued. They are also transferable, so you can give them to others.

(FYI - After you receive your coupon, you're going to need to know which converter box to use it toward.)
