Macrovision is changing its name to Rovi and is licensing its interactive program technology (IPG) to Sony which will give them a few years access under the Gemstar label.

“Technology advances are now coming to fruition in the living room and will change the way that people view their TV sets and other consumer electronic devices.”

IPG technology is used for interactive program guides in TVs, DVDs, Blu-ray Disc recorders and other video electronics.
