Using elementary students, scientists at the University of Derby have determined that Wii Fit and the many other active games such as Wii Sports helps the cardiovascular system as well as losing weight.

For so long the growing obesity rate among children were the result of prolong gaming and not enough physical exercise.  Thanks to Nintendo that stereotype is no longer valid.

"Taking part in games like tennis, golf or bowling on consoles such as the Wii can burn four times as many calories as playing more traditional computer games, enough to keep waistlines in check..."

You can now burn up to 150 calories (which is about the same as a "brisk" walk) in just a half hour playing your favorite sports in the comfort of your own living room.
