Macrovision Corp. mostly known for its copyright protection on DVD's & DRM on music CD's has always been a "deterrent" company but have now switched sides to enable access to media to virtually all consumers.
Mediabolic & All Media Guide (AMG), both belong to Macrovision now, and if things go as planned, the company will soon acquire Gemstar TV Guide, a company whose on-screen menu software is widely used.
Macrovision plans to release “Imagine Mood TV,” an interface intended to allow consumers to access all their digital content in one place (it also automates playlists and recommends content based on the user’s past preferences), Macrovision is gearing up to be the leader in digitally connected living rooms.
