Plagued by a series of development delays, Windows Vista is front and center of a new product cycle at the world's largest software maker that includes a new version of its Office business software suite.

Microsoft will release Vista to corporate customers and standard retail customers purchasing from stores on November 30th and January 30th for the general public.

I think its safe to say that all the recent Microsoft launches (IE7, Windows Media Player 11 and others) have a reason - the Vista is coming soon so everything needs to be updated and working at 100%.

It only took Microsoft a little over five years to provide a new OS after XP debuted
