This Sony device (actually made by Sony & NEC Optiarc) will record single layer DVD's in under 5 minutes, as well as other improved times for DL and RW disc's

The drive boasts with recording speed figures: 18x for a single layer DVD and also a promise to record some 16x media at this speed. The DVD-RAM will fly at 12x and dual layer DVD's at 8x, and so does +RW. The -RW is recorded at 6x and the legacy CD-R format at 48x. More...
