Wal-Mart announced tonight that it would sell the iPhone 3GS for only $97 starting Tuesday which is less than half of the current retail price

Wal-Mart announced tonight that it would sell the iPhone 3GS for only $97 starting Tuesday which is less than half of the current retail price.

The breaking news comes out just before the release of the highly anticipated new iPhone, the iPhone HD, so that explains why Apple has been stopping iPhone 3G shipments to AT&T.
