Total wireless TVs are in our future as Sony is trying to develop a new wireless power transfer system that incorporates a form of contactless electrical energy transmission technology based on magnetic resonance.

The Sony Wireless Power Transfer system can currently transfer up to 60 Watts of electrical energy over a distance of 50cm.

The Sony Wireless Power Transfer technology is still in prototype stage. There is no word yet how long it will take until Sony can market the wireless power technology in their TVs.
