YouTube has been in talks with movie studios to offer rental streams of new release movies which will be available stream the same day as the release date of the DVD/Blu-ray discs.

A $3.99 rental price is being discussed because that is the going rate for new release movies on iTunes or Amazon's VOD service.

There are rumors that the MPAA are "sorta" behind this move but, I just can't see how.
