Sony has plans to join forces with Sharp to build a LCD panel plant in Japan that is rumored to cost them over $1 billion.

The plant, located in Sakai Japan, will be the world’s first to handle 10th-gen glass substrates, which are larger than previous generations and reduce production costs per panel.

The plant is suppose to go live in October.
