This isn't breaking news as Sony filed a series of patents for this technology last year but, at least we know its in the works.
Reports from a reliable source says they have seen a working prototype several months ago that used LEDs and a small webcam to track the remotes movements.
The remote can read different color lights, different shapes, and even the angle at which the remotes held (unlike the Wiimote).
