Samsung is going even greener by announcing the pass production of edge-lit LED backlighting TVs

Samsung has announced the mass production of its new ultra-slim LCD panels that use "Edge-Lit" LED backlighting.

These TVs are mercury free and consume %40 percent less power than tradtional LCD TVs.  They are also just 10.8mm thick which is roughly one fourth the thickness of current LCD TVs, making them super thin.

Samsung currently has 3 sizes, a 40", 46", and a 55".
