Sony released a new PSP model in October that was "unhackable" or so they thought.  After countless failed attempts to obtain kernel access on the new PSP 3000, hackers almost gave up.

Yesterday Datel developed a new battery that enables "Service Mode" on the new PSP allowing custom firmware to be installed.

Many users already speculate the new firmware is to block this method and refuse to update.
