Panasonic confirmed today it is in talks to acquire its smaller rival, Sanyo, in a deal that would see the formation of Japan's biggest electronics maker.
The merger is being planned against a worrying drop of falling demand and higher manufacture costs. The deal went down shortly after both companies stock prices fell.
