Sony is now confident that it has thoroughly tested and removed the bugs from version 2.40 firmware that plagued many customers who updated last week
The 2.40 firmware update was a significant one that would bring a few new features such as Trophies and in-game XMB access. Shortly after it was released last week, complaints started pouring in that the firmware update was corrupting their consoles and in some cases totally bricking them rendering them useless.

"We’ve been able to fix the problem, and I’m happy to report that firmware update v2.41 will be released shortly. We want to extend our apologies to the PlayStation community for any inconvenience."

It would appear that version 2.41 firmware doesn't offer any new features but, just fixes what was wrong in 2.40. Sony made no comment regarding customers who had their system bricked by the update...
