The Sony PS3 gets a firmware update later this month that will add BD 2.0, also known as BD Live, making it capable of playing the special features offered on every Blu-ray Disc.

After the upgrade, the PS3 will be up to speed and will be able to download bonus scenes, trailers, new subtitle tracks, ringtones, interactive games and more will be readily accessible for Blu-ray fans.

The firmware update also allows PS3 owners with a PSP to hook the two up via a USB cable, and copy music playlists and photos between the two.

Sony is shooting for April 8 as the date it will release its first batch of Blu-ray Disc titles that can be connected to the Internet for more bonus materials and features.

"Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story" and the Arnold Schwarzenegger sci-fi thriller "The 6th Day" will be the studio's first two BD-Live titles.

Update: Firmware 2.20 is now available for download! More information here
