A Connecticut man has filed a lawsuit against Samsung over what he calls the "defective" Samsung BD-P1200 Blu-ray player
Bob McGovern says that a number of movies he purchased after buying his BD-P1200 wouldn't play on the device. The reason being is basically do to the profile specs and Samsung not issuing a firmware update to resolve the problems.

There are 3 different profile specs. You have 1.0, 1.1, and 2.0 profile specs. Because of Sony's hurried efforts to arrive on the hardware scene at the same time as HD-DVD released their players, the different profiles did not meet spec requirements.

Approving Profile 1.0, even though it limited the potential of the first players and ensured that they'd never be compatible with future profiles was a choice Samsung and Blu-ray was willing to take.
