The Virtual VCR application is a DirectShow application written in C++ to allow you to capture Video and Audio to an AVI file on your hard drive.

To use this application you will need DirectX 8.0 or later installed on your system, all you have to do then in download the zip file and extract the executable to use Virtual VCR.

Features :
Virtual VCR is designed to allow you to easily capture video and audio to your hard drive, it gives you control over resolution, compression codec and various other settings, here is a short list of some of the features of the Virtual VCR application.
  • Arbitrary resolution settings 480x576 etc.
  • Compression codec selection (Video only)
  • Smart Tea Preview for capturing and preview at full resolutions
  • Pre Filtering allows selection of installed DirectShow filters [more]
  • Can be used with Schedule tasks to capture at any time of the day [more]
  • Real-time Capture stats including compression ratio, bytes sec etc

  • Added Audio compression capability, this is still very new and it may not work in all situation so give it a try and see how you go, I tested it with the MPEG Layer-3 codec (Not the built in Microsoft one).
  • Added output file name override command line option.
    e.g. -output "<file name>"
  • Added store functions for the VideoAmp, this saves and reloads the Video Amp colour settings. (Brightness, Hue, Contrast, Saturation and Colour Enabled)
  • Fixed a bug with saving the tuner settings in the profile file correctly.
