In this guide I will show you how to remove logos and other watermark images (such as the Fox logo on TV) with VirtualDub and the De-logo Filter, removing both opaque and alpha-blended, semi-transparent, logos).

This guide will not cover instructions for actual re-encoding settings, it is expected that you are aware of how to do this within VirtualDub.

Software you'll need (all freeware):

Installation

Install VirtualDub by extracting the ZIP package to a folder on your hard-drive (eg. C:\Program Files\VirtualDub). Install the DeLogo filter by extracting the "delogo.vdf" found in the package to VirtualDub's "plugins" sub-directory under (eg. C:\Program Files\VirtualDub\plugins).

Help ... When using the programs when I get to the part where I need to LOAD the analysisframe I keep getting a pop-up that says "MASK MUST CONTAIN AT LEAST ONE CORRECTED PIXEL (RED)". All my 3 frames were done according to the instructions using Paint Shop Pro, and this pop up keeps me from moving forward. What is causing this, and what can I do?

hyman151: Make sure you use the correct red color (the HTML code for the red should be #FF0000) and also save the file as a BMP, not JPEG or some other lossy format

Don't bother, this guide doesn't work. At the part where you're supposed to sample and show preview the preview only has frame 0 and 1 (not 0-2 like his) and the frames are white and gray. Something is wrong in the guide.

I've re-written the article to use a different method, which should work better
