How much would you be willing to pay for a DVD collection of more than 50,000 titles, along with more than 3,500 Blu-rays, $5,000 worth of storage racks and $12,000 worth of disc covers and sleeves?

An Australia movie collector, Greg, is putting this exact collection up for sale for the princely sum (or a bargain to some) of AUD $55,000 (USD $56,000). And he's throwing in a HD DVD player (remember those?), and a region A Blu-ray player for your troubles.

Greg's movie collectionThe collection, which has been expertly crafted over the last seven years of equally expert buying, is now up for sale because the unit he's renting is no longer big enough to house his, still growing, collection.

Movies and TV shows of all genres are represented, from Nostalgia and Grindhouse to Avant Garde and Exploitation, to all your mainstream titles too. There's even 400 adult titles for your private enjoyment.

"It’s become a bit of an obsession," Greg tells Gizmondo.

And you can have all of it, and Greg is adamant that he will not break up his collection and will only sell to a single seller, for only perhaps a tenth of what Greg paid for it - more than $500,000 by his own account (over $60,000 just for the more recent Blu-rays alone).

There are also HD DVDs, CDs, and even talking books in his up for sale collection. For those interested (Australia and/or Sydney based only, possibly), you can contact Greg via his Gumtree sales page. For the rest of us, all we can do is to sit back and admire the dedication, or shake our heads at the cost of obsession (but still secretly jealous, just a tiny bit maybe).
