The results and analysis for Blu-ray (and DVD) sales for the week ending 13th August 2011 is in. 6 out of the top 10 were all new releases, yet last week's number one, Rio, was still number one, and revenue dropped for both DVD and Blu-ray compared to last week. The best selling new release was Paul.
Again, comparing to the same week last year, overall revenue was only down slighty, just over $2m, suggesting Blu-ray's gain is nearly matching DVD's loss. Unfortunately, this week last year, revenue was already down compared to another year before, so the trend is still very much a downwards one.
