Check out the US Blu-ray sales stats for the week ending 29th January

The results and analysis for Blu-ray (and DVD) sales for the week ending 29th January 2011 has just been posted. The number of new releases increased this week, which allowed Blu-ray revenue and market share to both record small rises. The week's most popular title was Red.

The trend of DVD sales decreases along with a Blu-ray sales increase, compared to the same period last year, continues this week. The worrying thing is that Blu-ray sale increases are not even coming close to filling the gap left behind by dropping DVD sales, although the sales lost from DVD may be going to non Blu-ray related purchases, such as digital downloads and rentals.

You can read the rest of the stats and analysis here.
