BitBurners has just launched the public alpha version of the MediaBase database. The MediaBase is a database which contains and collects DVD recordable media quality information. In the first stage the support is limited to DVDs, but in the future as suitable tools are developed, we may add support the next generation formats (Blu-ray, HD-DVD) as well. Including the CD-R is an option as well, but at the moment it is only about DVDs.

The principle of the MediaBase is simple: Users can submit their Nero CD-DVD Speed quality scanning data, provide their subjective rating for the media (0-5 stars) and write a brief textual comment/review. As more data is collected, the database will start to have statistical validity and we will be able to produce very interesting quality statistics and information about the DVd recordable media on the market.

You can read more about MediaBase here.
