DVD Shrink Plugin

Authoring enhancement:

There are 3 functions (Enhance and Fix Authoring, DVD Shrink Remote Buttons and Redo authoring) which enhance the authoring of a DVD Shrink re-authored DVD.  All are very closely related.

Enhance and fix authoring is the most comprehensive and will be explained here.  The other 2 are subsets of this and use slightly different methodologies to achieve their aims.

In re-author mode, DVD Shrink (and Nero Recode) places each title in a Titleset of its own.  When a title is finished playing, the next title is played automatically.  Unfortunately, it is not possible to go directly to a precise title, because there is no menu.  These routines of the DVD Shrink Plugin allow you, at your option, to:

·         When in the last chapter of a title, use the Next Chapter button to jump to the first chapter of the next title.  Similarly, when in the first chapter of a title, use the Previous Chapter button to skip to the (first or) last chapter of the previous title.  Additionally, you can make the Return (Go Up) button jump to the previous title.

·         At any time, use the Title (or Root) Menu button on your remote control to jump directly to the previous (or next) title as you choose.

·         Loop playback to title 1 after the last title has finished playing.

Fix compilation with 50 or more titles:  There is a major bug in DVD Shrink’s re-author mode where if there are 50 or more titles, playback will be inhibited due to the maximum number of commands in the First Play PGC being exceeded.  You will be warned about this when loading the DVD and an examination of FP-PGC will show the errors.  If you have 50 or more titles, execute this function to fix up the authoring and make the DVD playable.

Make DVD completely region free:  DVD Shrink’s region free function allows playback in regions 1-6.  This function also enables regions 7 and 8 (for what they are worth).

Check Streams Remapping safety:  This checks whether you may safely use DVD Shrink’s Logical Remapping of Enabled Streams preference with the current DVD.  The function explains in detail what the risks are (essentially, DVD Shrink cannot modify commands which indirectly set streams resulting in menus which do not work) and this document also goes through the theory behind this DVD Shrink option.

Launch DVD Shrink:  Use these commands to launch DVD Shrink either with the current DVD or with no DVD loaded.

Clear DVD Shrink Analysis Results cache:  When DVD Shrink opens a DVD for the first time, it goes through a quick analysis.  When it backs up a DVD, depending on your preferences, it goes through a deep analysis.  This option clears the analysis results.
