Section Zer0 Welcome to this, the 14th issue, of the DVD Digest LiveUpdate newsletter. Our "fortnightly" newsletter has now turned into a "somtimes every 3rd week, sometimes every 4th" one. But the delay in getting this newsletter published has good reason, considering the massive amount of workloads we have down here, and also the "Surprise" we are working on (see chapter 2 on this newsletter). But we haven't been sitting on our hands for the last few weeks, adding even more titles to our archive of DVD software, making DVD Digest one of the biggest DVD software sites. Oh well, on with the news ... ******************************************************* 1. dvdpiracy.com pirated ?? If you are a big fan of Oleg's DVDSoft homepage (who isn't), then you are now probably aware of the redirection of dvdpiray.com - a URL used by Oleg for quite a few month now, by the 7thZone guys over to their site. The same, it seems, has also occured with NVO's excellent ripping site - his site's content was removed and the index.html redirected to 7thZone.com. 7thzone.com is owned by the same guy own opened dvdutils.com. Although 7thZone did own both the URLs/Domains used by both Oleg and NVO, it still seem like a nasty thing to do fellow DVD webmasters - imitating what Geocities or Tripod do so often. The 7thZone guys did not even inform either Oleg or NVO regarding the redirection - of course both Oleg and NVO would probably have agreed to it (since they did not own the domain/URL), if they were asked prior. And there seems to be a boycott thing going on in this thread on Oleg's DVDSoft Forum (URL below) as well. And last, but not least, 7thZone.com have stolen part of our PC-DVD Guide, some chapters word-for-word. We spent over 2 month working on the guide, and it's not good (to say the least) to see something like this happen. But I guess all is fair in love, war and webmastering (?) . Here are the URLS : Oleg's DVDSoft page - http://dvdsoft.da.ru NVO's rip site - http://perso.libertysurf.fr/nvorip/ DVDSoft Forum : Boycott 7thzone.com - http://www.delphi.com/pc_dvd/messages/?msg=2386.17 ******************************************************* 2. A surprise, coming soon ... We've got a surprise coming your way. You may or may not find it useful, but it's been something that has long been missing from our site from the day we started. Watch this space ... ******************************************************* 3. More ripping/conversion guides added Yep, just added more ripping/conversion guides for your viewing/ripping/conversion pleasure. These include : ** The Matrix Backup guide - finally find out how to get rid of the skipping effects when you try to backup The Matrix ** DVD-to-MPEG4 Single CD FAQ - Find out all you need to know to squeeze a 2 hour DVD to a single CD-R using MPEG-4 compression ** Simple Guide to convert DVDs to VCD - a 31 (!!) page word document that details all you need to know to convert DVD to VCD - succesfully Plus, we've updated the VOB Conversion guides with more contents, diagrams, new improved methods and more. Get them all here : http://www.digital-digest.com/dvd/support/index.html ******************************************************* 4. What's new at DVD Digest Downloads ? Too much to fit into this text file (another reason why this newsletter SHOULD be published fortnightly, not the slack way we've been running it) .
