Check out the US Blu-ray sales stats for the week ending 16th April 2011

The results and analysis for Blu-ray (and DVD) sales for the week ending 16th April 2011 has just been posted. Another week, another record for Blu-ray, but combined sales still appear to be quite disappointing. Blu-ray broke through the 27% barrier, after breaking through 26% last week, and 25% a week earlier. This week, it was all down to Harry Potter, from the new movie Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and the other four Harry Potter movies in the top 10. The Incredibles coming to Blu-ray for the first time as Blu-ray exclusive

Again, DVD numbers appear to be disappointing, and I have written a special section that compares this Harry Potter movie release to the last, in terms of Blu-ray and DVD sales. The fact that DVD sales were only up 25% from the same time last year where there were zero new releases on DVD, suggest that something is not quite right.

You can read the rest of the stats and analysis here.
