GeoHot, aka George Hotz, has made threats to Sony that he will release custom firmware for the PS3 in response to them removing the "Other OS" option

Sony made the announcement that its latest firmware release will inevitably remove the Linux capabilities the PS3 currently possesses, for piracy reasons of course.

"I never intended to touch [custom firmware], but if that's how you want to play..."

In direct response GeoHot or George Hotz threatened to release custom firmware for the PS3 keeping that feature alive.  Sony may have done more harm than good with their latest anti-piracy tactic.
