Sony is facing many lawsuits claiming the company's latest firmware update has caused major hardware issues and that Sony is going to charge to $150 to fix what the firmware broke.

"Thousands of Sony PlayStation 3 ('PS3') video game owners who downloaded a system update required by Sony found that the update caused their PS3 units to malfunction and actually damaged the hardware on many units,"

Sony hasn't responded to the claims yet but it seems to be working for the customers implying that Sony Customer Service was trying to claim the hardware failures were coincidental issues.
