Microsoft has recently did a hardware update to the Arcade edition of the XBOX 360 that improves performance and fixes quite a few bugs.

Microsoft has doubled the internal storage capacity to 512MB while lowering production cost, which isn't a easy thing to do.

Unfortunately at this time, there is no way to spot the upgraded consoles without taking them out of the box.
