Amazon is preparing to sell HD TV downloads for as little as $2.99 in hopes to battle with iTunes HD downloads.  Apple has tried this with music downloads but, didn't put much of a dent in iTune sales.

Amazon does have a few distinct advantages though, like being able to access its VOD service through TiVo & Roku set-top boxes, while Apple content is limited to computers and Apple devices.

Amazon's VOD service just may pull ahead of Apple in the HD arena.
