Microsoft launched WGA or "Windows Genuine Advantage" in China last week hoping to weed out pirated versions of Windows.  Users who do not pass the validation test will be presented with a black desktop.

Microsoft stands behind the program as a measure to protect its intellectual property and help customers determine that they have legal software.  (I don't know about you but, I am dying to know if my copy is legal or not)

Within days of the launch, bypassing methods were made available by hackers to circumvent the validation test.
