No Blu-ray Drive for XBOX 360

In May a rumor was started saying that Microsoft had begun to make internal Blu-ray drives for its new gaming system. Microsoft killed that rumor by going on the record saying there is no plans of making a Blu-ray drive for the XBOX 360 .
Seeing how the HD-DVD was a big hit, I can't for the life of me figure out why they wouldn't make a Blu-ray add on device. Could it be pride?
