Sony's PS3 out sold its competition the Nintendo Wii for the first time ever. Sales of the PS3 have sky rocketed since the release of the cheaper $399 40GB model, but I would speculate the main reason behind these sales were "Black Friday", where it is typical for manufacturers to see large increases in sales.
Feeding on the victims of the Wii shortage, Sony just may stay afloat for the rest of the year.
