SATA DVD drives are faster, neater, easier to install and are quickly becoming the choice of consumers
Before this year is over, SATA drives (whether it be hard drives or optical drives) will become the industry standard. Dell and HP are already starting to ship all of their new Vista equipped PC's with SATA optical drives.

The adoption of the SATA drives has been rather slow due to inadequate amount of motherboards the generally support them and they are still slightly higher in price then your typical ATA drives.
