Ceridwen: the problem is that you are using Windows Vista for gaming. vista is complete garbage for running games. i would suggest win xp if you are using your pc as a gaming rig.

Vista is more trouble than it is worth.

I'm not running the game under Vista, so I don't get the same problem. I assume you've updated the game to the latest version (a new version was released yesterday)? As well as the latest Nvidia drivers?

There are some additional troubleshooting tips in one of the sticky posts at the top of this forum:

http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showforum=36

If all else fails, then post a message there and somebody might have already found a solution (but try the latest patch first, it fixes some issues).

Hello,

I've tried everything with Fallout 3 even clean boot startup. I've excluded ffdshow from it's video and audio list under the name 'fallout3.exe'. Got an Asus videocard with a Nvidea 9800 chip with 1 gig of memory inside of it. My computer has an additional of 4 gig memory as well. Tried the Asus GamerOSD deinstallation thing but that made things even worse, I couldn't get a screen resolution.

Always the same problem: When I try to load a new game Windows Vista (64bit) says it crashed and needs to close. I'm starting to get quite desperate and frustrated as my computer is brand new.

Can anyone please help me? I've been browsing for solutions for hours but I can't get to the core of the problem.

Is it me or is PC gaming getting very expensive, I mean it's still cheaper than the alternatives, but jeez...these video cards are EXPENSIVE...and they go out of style fast...just my 2 cents
